General portrait advice
Look at any picture on your walls.
You will find that your eyes
naturally go to the brightest part
of the subject.
The main purpose of a portrait is
usually to show the faces.
So try and ensure the faces are
the brightest part of the portrait, i.e. try to avoid bright or vivid colours.
As a general rule wear colours that are lighter than skin tone - that way
you will ensure the focus of attention will be on the faces.
For ladies, long sleeves are more
flattering as are loose-fitting garments. If several people are being taken,
try to ensure that the clothes are complimentary - e.g. all formal or all
casual. If you are in doubt as to what to wear, bring changes of clothing
and we can take a variety of poses in different clothes.
